The Covenant of Genesis". To be honest, this book was not my cup of tea. I was disappointed with char I have not read any of Andy McDermott's work before, so I was unaware that this was a series of books. I was disappointed with characters, they all seemed shallow and the relationship between the husband and wife team. Well it was almost like, the author thought they are married so I dont have to work as hard on giving the relationship any substance. It was okay but I do not feel compelled to go and read any of the other books.

After that, the usual, danger, death, explosions, and general crazy mayhem ensues. Like I said, you have to approach this series understanding what you are getting. It always makes me laugh when I see other reviews of books in this series complaining that it is formulaic, or that it is totally unrealistic.

If you are looking for realistic, totally unique stories, this is not the series for you!

On the other hand, if you like easy-to-digest action, adventure, ridiculous predicaments with a very likable couple, and hysterically funny one-lines [mainly from Eddie, whose darkly fatalistic sense of humour I absolutely ADORE!! I pick up one of these - format note: These audio books are perfect for my daily subway commute. I highly recommend this series for sheer over-the-top exciting entertainment! Another rip-roaring action-packed thriller in this ongoing series.

The story rapidly progresses from an attack on her life in New York to uncovering a hidden pyramid in Egypt, all whilst trying to fend off the evil machinations of a religious cult as in the book title who want to use some of the contents of the pyramid for their own evil purposes.

As with previous books in the series, there's plenty of action and adrenaline-fuelled sequences throughout the story to keep your interest spiked. First, why there was a decision to change the name for the American addition is a mystery to me. Took a while to figure out that the Pyramid of Doom was the same as Osiris. Overall, this adventure was much better than the previous.

It helped characterization-wise to remove the endless funds and backing that Nina and Eddie have had.

Plus there was the addition of interesting secondary characters and their natures interacting with Nina and Eddie added some freshness. Yes, still completely unrealis First, why there was a decision to change the name for the American addition is a mystery to me.

Yes, still completely unrealistic ways of doing archeology, etc. But that's a given. May 27, Lyn Richards rated it liked it Shelves: However I found this story easy to put down and hard to pick up; it wasn't all bad though and I did get a few laughs throughout the book with the dry humour from the Eddie Chase character. The rest of the storyline was predictable and at times simply ridiculous.

Nonetheless I read through to the end and it gave me some entertainment. Aug 28, Warren Thoms rated it liked it. If you have read any of the others in the series than you know what you are getting. She gets a hold of Nina and the race for relics is on. Mar 07, John Mac rated it it was ok. Painful dialogue and some truly far fetched scenarios are partly redeemed by a nail biting finish. This story gets off to a good start and ends well, but it really sags in the middle.

I've read six in this series now, having read one out of order, not realising it was a series.

Jan 03, Malcolm Cox rated it really liked it. If this were a movie, it would be a high-octane action film with lots of explosions, vehicle chases and over the top baddies. The pure enjoyment of it would forgive all the far-fetched stunts and gravity-defying leaps. Thankfully, this book reads just like it would look on screen, so just sit back and enjoy the ride. Aug 25, Nemanja rated it really liked it. This was my first book from Nina Wilde adventure series. Interesting, fast paced, dynamic, maybe a bit over the top with all the chases and gun-loving-explosion-filled-action scenes, but it was fun to read though I loved the Indiana Johns typed adventure Mar 11, Conor Grath rated it it was amazing Shelves: This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers.

This is a bit Indiana Jones or lara croft but mixed with a great adventure thriller. Nina and Eddie are brilliant characters but in this one they are a married couple.

As always this was with action, humour and twists. Really liked this one. Now to number 6.

Very good book. Keeps you wanting more at every turn of the page. Great series to get into. A lot of slam bang action from beginning to end, but in the end, it is pretty juvenile, more interested in body counts than in logic.

Recommended only to fans of sophomoric non-stop action. May 26, Lina Ramos rated it really liked it. This should be a movie. The Pyramid of Doom was enjoyable, but there were some gruesome deaths. There does seem to be a lack of regard for the lives of secondary and tertiary characters. Jun 04, Claire rated it it was amazing. Action-packed thriller which is a great page turner. When college student Macy contacts Nina claiming to have pictures of a tablet that could lead to one of the biggest discoveries yet: While I did enjoy this book, it was far from the five star read that I was expecting it to be. While it is fun to an extent, there's just way too much of it in this book.

Then there's the treasure hunting. I can't help but feel that if McDermott were to pace himself better with his books he releases 2 a year , this book would have been far better. I can't help but worry that he's beginning to burn himself out by attempting to write so quickly.

I enjoyed this book, but I can't help but think that it needed to simmer for a little bit longer. This book was just underdone. Fans of the series will like this well enough, but newcomers are better off starting with the first books. For the backstory as well as the better written entries in the series.

Aug 07, Theresa rated it really liked it. Okay, their back. And I love it. This adventure is as exciting as the first ones were. But the theme of a millionaire declaring himself a god and trying to take over the world is getting old!

I Okay, their back. Seven steps, each designed after the attribute of a female demi-goddess.

Having two of them combined, just makes it more exciting. I think my favorite is the burning oil. Nina has gained a lot of experience since the first book. Which is a positive qualification for her future occupation. Eddie is settling down also. I love Macy. I think she matured in this book from being an overindulged young person. For a celebrity, Grant is an okay guy, but Berkley is a jerk.

Quick Thoughts: They make a lot of business for the transportation industry. Fave scenes: Jun 08, Jeninne rated it liked it Shelves: Fun fact: I always, and I mean always, read these books for the plot.
