Defense Boost S: At 5, youre given the chance to recruit another Shakalaka child, Cha-Chas rival Kayamba. There are several items that exist only to keep you alive and fighting. If the numbers arent separated, then theyre the same for both capturing and killing the monster. The type of the attack performed when a shot is fully charged changes, depending on the Bow. The accompanying table provides information on the following: When using the Hammer, try to aim for the head whenever possible.
Monsters have specific Elemental weaknesses.
Elemental damage is often just as useful as raw damage and matching the right element against the right monster can quickly end a battle. Abnormal Status Ailments Some weapons, in place of Elemental damage, can inflict status effects on the enemy. There are three types of status effect, each with its own benefits.
Status effects are not inflicted with the first hitthey must continuously hit an enemy in order to trigger. Each enemy has a different resistance to status effects, so try not to use Poison weapons on a monster that uses Poison. This damage is inflicted regardless of the enemies armor, making it very useful against monsters with thick skin and high defense. Unlike Paralysis, a sleeping enemy awakens instantly after being hit, so sleeping monsters should be hit with the strongest attack possible.
Also, the attack that awakens a sleeping enemy deals extra damage. This stat represents your chance of performing a critical attack, as well as how much damage a critical attack deals. Affinity basically translates directly into extra damage. Weapons with powerful single attacks especially benefit with Affinity, allowing attacks like the charged Greatsword and Hammer attacks to deal even more damage.
Equipment In the world of Monster Hunter, monsters only get stronger and stronger, so you must constantly upgrade with newer, more powerful weapons and equipment to fight them. Equipment comes in two general types: Both of these have two categories of their own: Blademaster melee fighter or Gunner ranged weapon user.
This section of the guide provides general information on all the weapon types in the game, as well as a primer on how armor and its associated skills function. Its best suited for Hunters who want to patiently pick their spots and finish a monster with a few extremely potent attacks. When using the Great Sword, primarily focus on hitting with its Level 3 charge attack. This move can be used while the weapon is sheathed; practice this technique to increase mobility.
The Great Sword can guard attacks, but it should only be used as a last resort, since most attacks inflict a great deal of red Health and quickly drain your Stamina. The Long Sword is a great weapon for players familiar with other 3-D action games, looking for more mobility in their weapon. As you hit enemies with the Long Sword, your Spirit gauge located underneath your Health and Stamina gauges fills, giving you access to powerful Spirit slashes. These attacks never bounce off an enemy, making them very useful against enemies with thick hides.
When your Spirit gauge fills, you gain an attack boost for a limited time and your Spirit gauge does not drain for 30 seconds. This allows you to perform Spirit slashes without having to worry about your gauge! If the full 4-attack Spirit combo is performed, you gain an Attack power boost for a few minutes! You can enhance this boost three times your gauge turns from white to yellow to red , and then extend it by landing the full Spirit combo again.
Sword and Shield attacks start and finish very quickly and can be cancelled into a roll at any point, allowing you to safely pick away at your enemy. By itself, it is difficult to kill enemies with the Sword and Shield due to its relatively low damage per hit.
Because it hits so often, you should use Elemental and Abnormal Status weapons over raw damage weapons since you are more likely to inflict ailments. The Sword and Shield can use items while the weapon is drawn, allowing you to defend while healing yourself. When used along with the WideRange skill, you can essentially act as a healer, healing your allies while defending yourself!
CUT These twin swords are capable of dealing huge damage very quickly, shredding small and large monsters alike. Dual Blades are great weapons for aggressive players that dont mind constantly being up close and personal with large beasts.
By pressing the R button you can enter Demon mode, which gives you more potent attacks, a quick dashing dodge, and the ultra-powerful Demon Flurry attack at the cost of Stamina. If a large amount of damage is dealt while in Demon mode when your Stamina is depleted, you enter Archdemon mode. This allows you to perform Demon mode attacks and Dashes without spending any Stamina! Much like the Great Sword, the Hammer is based around Charge attacks.
Unlike the Great Sword, you can move while charging the Hammer, making it easier to score a big hit. The Hammer is also one of the few weapons that can deal Impact damage, allowing it to dizzy enemy monsters and break certain monster parts, like Barroths head!
When using the Hammer, try to aim for the head whenever possible. The Hunting Horn is also one of the two weapons that constantly deals Impact damage, allowing it to dizzy enemies. Each Hunting Horn has three notes attached to it, which determine what buffs and debuffs it can apply. Each Hunting Horn attack plays a note and, once enough notes have been played, can bestow a buff by performing the combined notes.

CUT If you want immaculate defense but also extreme attack power, look no further than the Lance. It can defend most attacks without taking any red Life and is also capable of dealing tremendous damage to enemies that try to attack.
The Lances counterattacks allow you to block an attack and immediately strike back, dealing damage while on defense! By tilting the Circle Pad toward your enemy and pressing X, you charge toward your opponent while blocking, absorb their attack, and gain position to punish them! CUT Much like the Lance, the Gunlance is a great defensive weapon that is still an offensive powerhouse. Instead of focusing on precise attacks, the Gunlance is more interested in blowing away enemies with extreme force.
The Gunlances most potent attack is its WyvernFire maneuver, which trades a large amount of Sharpness for an immensely powerful explosive attack! WyvernFire can only be used every so often. Feel free to unleash it whenever you can so it can recover sooner!
In Axe mode, movement speed is slower but attacks can be performed quickly and chained together infinitely. Sword mode is limited by the gauge located underneath the Health gauges. It is immensely powerful, dealing tons of damage in a limited time.
While in this mode, you can unleash an attack that expends your Sword gauge into one explosive attack dealing enormous damage!
You dont have to reload a Bow, but it is incapable of equipping different ammunition types. Instead, different Coatings can be applied to your Bow, which give your arrows unique effects such as poison, paralysis, or simply added power. The Bow can add on to its damage by using powerful charge attacks.
The type of the attack performed when a shot is fully charged changes, depending on the Bow. Try each one of these special attacks and see which you prefer. Bowguns, while dealing less damage in general than melee weapons, can constantly fire at an enemy no matter where they are.
This gives Bowguns great damage capability overall. There are two types of Bowguns, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. The Light Bowgun features much greater mobility but is weaker than the Heavy Bowgun. Like its name indicates, the Heavy Bowgun has much greater offensive power, has the capability to block, and can enter into crouch mode where it can unload large quantities of special ammo without needing to reload.
All this comes at a movement price. Your Hunter moves very slowly with a Heavy Bowgun, making escaping enemy attacks difficult if you werent already prepared. Before selecting a Bowgun, try each one of them out and see if you prefer speedy movement or extreme power. You wont become the greatest Hunter in the world with weapons alone.
You also need to constantly craft new armor to sustain attacks from stronger monsters. In most cases, armor comes in sets of five pieces: There are some armor sets that do not have a full set of five pieces. Most armor can only be equipped by either Blademaster or Gunner weapon users, so be sure to purchase the correct set of armor for your preferred weapon class. Each large monster has an associated armor set with it.
After defeating a large monster, head to the Smithy and check out the available armor and see if theres anything you can use! Armor pieces also have associated elemental weaknesses and strengths, usually tied to the monster they came from. For example, the Great Jaggi is very weak to fire and so is his armor! If you think youre taking more damage than you should from an enemy, check your elemental defense and think about changing armor!
Decorations are items that can be attached onto Armor to increase or decrease the Skill points given by the armor. You can use Decorations to earn extra points in a Skill you cant quite earn or add more points to a Skill and enhance its abilities. To create and apply Decorations to armor, head over to the Smithy.
Each Decoration requires a Jewel of various qualities ,as well as monster parts or other items to create. Each Decoration also occupies a certain number of Slotsa 2-Slot decoration will only fit into a piece of Armor with two or three open slots and cannot fit onto two pieces of Armor with one open slot each. The Decorations List has the following information: Name of the Decoration.
The earliest ranking you can earn the materials required to create a Decoration in both the Village and Tavern. Some items can only be earned in Village Quests while others require you to play in the Tavern. What Skill points are added whenever the Decoration is applied.
What Skill points, if any, are subtracted whenever the Decoration is applied. Some Decorations do not subtract Skill points.
How many open Slots are required to apply the Decoration onto a piece of armor. What items you need to create the Decoration. The Rarity ranking number of the Decoration.
In addition to armor series, there are two ways you can enhance the Skill points on your armor: Talismans and Decorations. Talismans are additional equipment you can equip that dont provide any defense, but do offer extra Skill points.
While Talismans are completely valuable, it can be very difficult to get the Talisman you want as after discovering a Talisman the Talisman you receive is completely random! Strive to collect pages full of Talismans so youre ready to activate the Skill you want.

Farm Functions The Farm can produce four kinds of materials: Each of these functions is unlocked shortly after beginning the game. You start out with only a single Felyne farmer, but additional Feylnes return to the Farm as you progress through the game.
To start producing goods at the Farm, talk to the Head Farmer to send one of your farmers to work. They work on producing the item you select as long as you tell them to. Items Usable Items Gathering Items Over the course of your Monster Hunter adventure you will find thousands of items of various types including insects, plants, rocks, potions, and even several varieties of dung! There are several items thats primary use is generally to get more items. These items are generally purchased at the store, but can also be created by combining items with each other so you can get items to make items to get more items!
Gathering bugs serves many purposes, mostly bombs, ammunition, and occasionally even weapons. Generally these veins are found in dark, rocky areas, but can also be found underwater.
Ore is used mostly for creating equipment. Fish are mostly used to create ammunition. This damage is very low, however, but they must be used to kill Fish enemies in order to skin them. Harpooned Fish parts are used mostly for equipment.
There are several items that exist only to keep you alive and fighting. Items that restore your hunters Health and Stamina generally are fairly self-explanatory.
Potions restore both red and green life, although its best to use them when your red life is restored to get the best bang for your buck. If your Sharpness level decreases two or more times or is bouncing more often than it used to against a monster, use a Whetstone to bring it back to its previous glory.
There are many items that boost your stats, making you stronger, sturdier, and faster, giving you a leg up on enemy monsters. These items are usually strong, but unfortunately either limited by time or last only until you faint in battle. Take one of these when you see a monster to take less damage while you figure out their attacks.
Knock back one of these to keep fit and able to run around the Tundra for days.
Many items give you added combat prowess, allowing you to hit targets you couldnt normally hit, incapacitate enemies or even blow them to smithereens! The Boomerang angles upwards, allowing you to hit enemies higher than you normally could! The normal Horn alerts enemies, causing them to target you more often in battle. There are also horns that heal any allies in an area or even increase their attack for a limited time! Shock Traps set up quickly, but dont trap enemies for very long while Pitfall Traps keep enemies subdued for a long time and also cause them to suffer more damage than usual!
Small Barrel Bombs automatically detonate after a few seconds, but Large Barrel Bombs only explode if they are struck by either you or a monster.
Use the two bombs in tandem to create a massive chain explosion! In a Quest youll need to carry them as items in order for them to work, but if youre combining from the box, their effect will automatically be applied, as long as they are also in your Box. There are Combinations you can create, each of which is required for the Scroll of the Sage Award. Once youve made a combination, it will show up in your Combination List, allowing you to easily create it without needing to search for each specific item!
At 5, youre given the chance to recruit another Shakalaka child, Cha-Chas rival Kayamba. This gives you two allies to take on Quests! Cha-Cha and Kayamba are meant to give a solo player who cant find human hunting partners a fighting chance against higher difficulty monsters. These Shakalaka allies have a variety of abilities they use to support you through High-Rank missions and beyond. To interact with one of your Shakalaka pals, press A when near them. You are then presented a screen with the following options:.
Selecting this option determines whether or not you bring ChaCha or Kayamba on a Quest. By default, theyre set to not join you. Be sure to select this option to ensure they are there when you go on a Quest! This allows you to change Cha-Chas or Kayambas Mask.
Different Masks give the Shakalakas brand new abilities, like lighting up an area or even breathing fire! Change the Shakalakas Dancesspecial songs they can play to perform actions, such as taunting monsters, increasing your attack, or even restoring your Health! This option allows you to set a Shakalaka ability onto a Mask. Use skills to add an Elemental attribute to their attack or give them the ability to focus only on gathering.
This option takes you to a screen that displays information about Cha-Chas or Kayambas level, their attack power, and how much Stamina they have. This option selects whether or not you take one can only bring one of them at a time. Try to pick of the Shakalaks with you in multiplayer. Hello, I would like to hear some official comment if there is a possibility or plans of publishing pdf version of MH3U electronic manual?
After you purchase it, the FAQ says you can have it printed for personal use but it imprints your name on each page and has a BradyGames Watermark on each page. It's a real pain in the heck all these virtual manuals on wiiU. I bet it deserves completely the machine. I used to play MH3 on Wii, but for all the new weapons included in the wiiU game it's often necessary to have a manual or a booklet with the controls to check quickly.
If you want to check something you must stop the game and go through the pad, which is for an old player as I am completely foolish. I asked a few months ago to the Nintendo support for a game manual and I had the reply that there wasn't any in the box due to the ecological efforts of Nintendo. And so? Is electrical current made by nuclear plants ecological? Why a pdf file isn't available, it would be as "ecological" as the virtual stuff, wouldn't it!?! Hey hum, I'm french, so the Bradygame english Bible even if it's really well done , Is not convenient for me.
It's almost an abuse from Nintendo: You want some doc to print, even only for having gameplay controls on paper of the game you purchased, you'll need to buy it in addition! For weapon usage, you could get and print the charts i posted on that thread. We have added some common shortcuts to Capcom-Unity.
