City of Bones. At the restaurant, an Ethiopian and Italian fusion run by Luigi and frequented by Downworlders, the Downworlders do not take lightly to the idea of a Shadowhunter dining with them. I just feel the need to reread it ag The final book in the Bane Chronicles was pure perfection! There was a yell, but Magnus had already risen and closed the door before he could see Alec fall down the steps, as that was the sort of thing a man had to do in private. View all 3 comments.
It didn't. Alec was just the latest in a long line of loves for Magnus. And when he's dead, there'll be countless more like him and he'll just be a distant forgettable memory. The thing is I didn't 'see' it for myself, all I was shown was a pathetic old man who still acts like a spoilt brat and complains every chance he gets. There was nothing good about Magnus that came out of the novellas. If anything his bitching just proved what a petty wanker he was - I ended up thinking Magnus was the one who was the racist prat, the Shadowhunters compared to him looked reasonable.
Magnus should have stopped judging other people and looked at his own vile attitude. All in all, an unremarkable and dull story that added nothing of relevance to the TMI series overall. The novellas just showed what a complete bastard Magnus was, he was tolerable when he wasn't a POV character but as a MC he was an insufferable, irredeemable, pissy, little git.

He leaned in, expression open and ardent in the darkness of the stairs, in the hush of the moment. Alec's mouth met Magnus's, soft and gentle. Getting his breath back was an impossibility, and no longer a priority. Leaving Alec was the last thing he wanted to do right now. He pulled in Alec by the belt loops of his jeans, closed all distance between their bodies and caught Alec's tiny needful gasp with his mouth. The kiss caught fire and all he could see behind his closed eyes were gold sparks; all he was aware of was Alec's mouth, Alec's strong gentle hands Alec here, Alec now, the taste of Alec in his mouth, his hands pushing aside the fabric of his own worn T-shirt to get at Alec's bare skin underneath.
Alec kissed a sweet careful line down Magnus's neck, starting just below his ear to the hollow at the base of his throat. Magnus pulled Alec down to the sofa, Alec collapsing bonelessly on top of him. Magnus fastened his lips to Alec's neck. He tasted sweat and soap and skin, and Magnus bit down, hoping to leave a mark on the pale skin there, wanting to. Alec gave a breathy whimper and pushed his body into the contact. Magnus's hands slid under Alec's rumpled shirt, learning the shape of Alec's body.
He ran his fingers over the swell of Alec's shoulders and down the lean curve of his back, feeling the scars of his profession and the wildness of his kisses. Feb 25, Joana rated it it was amazing Shelves: Could this be more perfect?? I just want to re-read this all over again! Why was it so short?
I want more!!!! Jesus Christ Alec is so sexy!!!
I already loved him so much but see what Magnus thinks of him. How he sees him So adorable and hot and sweet and sexy and I'm so in love. Oh my god. Oh my god! Seriously I can't control myself!!!! Dam Could this be more perfect?? I'm so afraid!!! View all 6 comments. He recognized and accepted this strange new feeling: Maybe this time was different—maybe this love was different. It felt so different; surely that had to mean something.
Maybe the year to come would be a good year for both of them. Maybe this time things would work out the way Magnus wanted them to. Maybe Alexander Lightwood would not break his heart.

I feel like my review of What to Buy the Shadowhunter Who Has Everything made my opinion on this relationship quite clear. Feb 22, Sinead rated it it was amazing. Malec shippers, let's celebrate! We get to see just how much Magnus is falling for Alec and how nervous they both were around each other on their first date. Absolutely adorable. I was about to give this 4 stars because of too much change for the release date, but the events in this novella makes up for it.
That cursed chapter in CoLS makes this book hurt more. Malec knew and hence the very title of this chronicle , but they just I swear if one of them dies in CoHF I will do worse than cry. I really hate this ship too, because I think Alec deserves better than this sleazy warlock. Really Alec deserves better than this whole series but that's beside the point right now. Let me be clear that my hatred for this ship has nothing to do with homophobia as I'm sure the fanbase would claim.
It has to do with the fact that Magnus is three hundred years old and preying on an inexperienced teenage boy and that just throws up all kinds of creepy red flags for m Guys, I really hate Magnus Bane. It has to do with the fact that Magnus is three hundred years old and preying on an inexperienced teenage boy and that just throws up all kinds of creepy red flags for me.
I'm betting that this short was supposed to be a cute fluffy piece to endear us to this couple. If anything I want to rescue poor Alec and find him someone less shallow and more age appropriate. In Magnus's own words: Alec was a closeted, shy, obviously insecure, and obviously hung up on his blond friend Trace Wayland. So what does Magnus do to this shy boy who obviously prefers being able to just fade into the background?
Well first inwardly judges his outfit and redresses him in a flashy black sequin top when Alec spills drink on the shirt he shows up in. Which leads to this classy exchange: You've only been here ten minutes and I already got half your clothes off.
You stay classy. When Alec expresses discomfort from being looked at on the subway and wants to be able to use a rune to make himself invisible, the great selfish and inconsiderate Bane tells him hell no he refuses to have it appear that he's alone on a Friday night. Then for good measure he brings Alec to a Downworlder restaurant where Alec is instantly treated like garbage. Magnus Bane is about as deep as a kiddie pool at no point do I genuinely feel that Magnus is in this relationship or date for any other reason than Alec is good looking.
They try to shoehorn more reasons near the end, but it doesn't ring as true when most of the time he's saying things like this: Magnus raised an eyebrow at him. Why else would I agree to go on a date with you?
Run and find someone who will appreciate you. I wish I could have liked this couple. I wish it wasn't so awful. But I don't I want to accept it because hey at least it's something. This relationship comes off super shallow and on Mangus's end a more than bit creepy.
It feels like Alec is being taken advantage of. I would love to see more same-sex couples in books, but not like this. View all 26 comments. Jun 05, Cal rated it it was amazing Shelves: Like I've said, Cassie Clare should write a whole book just about Malec.
Or a series about Malec with them travelling the whole entire world that would be perfect thankyou. And this being the end of The Bane Chronicles is just so heart-warming and perfect and I just can't.. He was beautiful and hopeful and hesitant, a heartbreaker who wore his heart on his sleeve. Magnus found himself wanting to show his hand, to take a risk and be vulnerable. He backed up all the way to the top of the stairs. There was a yell, but Magnus had already risen and closed the door before he could see Alec fall down the steps, as that was the sort of thing a man had to do in private.
And Magnus found himself hoping. He had been taught so many times that hope was foolish, but he could not help it, as heedless as a child straying close to the fire and stubbornly refusing to learn from experience. If Jace was gold, catching the light and the attention, Alec was silver: Maybe it was enough to be the first person to tell Alec that he was worth being seen ahead of anyone in a room, and of being looked at longest.
And silver, though few people knew it, was a rarer metal than gold. He whispered the name as if making a promise that he would take his time. They must have forgotten to leave out the bit that said: And the Angel descended from on high and gave his chosen ones fantastic abs. Alec looked up at Magnus, and his lips parted as if he was going to speak. He watched Magnus with wide eyes, wondering at being watched.
Magnus exercised heroic self-control, smiled, and offered the shirt. Sometimes he was shallow. The final book in the Bane Chronicles was pure perfection! Malec will always be one of my favourite couples, and it's a damn shame we don't get more of them in the main series. But these little pearls of Cassandra's writing about these two? Are utter perfection. I can't get enough of Magnus and Alexander! They make me laugh in the bus and leave me with a happy and stupid smile across my face the rest of the ride.
I'd give this book 1 billion stars if I could. I just feel the need to reread it ag The final book in the Bane Chronicles was pure perfection! I just feel the need to reread it again and again!
I can't stop thinking about Alec's awkwardness around Magnus or Magnus' insecurities around Alec. They are just meant to be together. No one can't deny that, and I'm scared to death about City of Heavenly Fire. Cassandra wouldn't write something like this and then kill them on the last book of TMI right?!
No one can be that cruel. No even Cassandra. If she does kill one of them I'll be crying for years. I'm not fully recovered from Clockwork Princess I'm not ready for another Cassandra's stab in the heart. If Cassie kills one of them in CoHF i'll never recover.
This chronicle was just too much for me! I teared up in some scenes because that's what Malec does to me! And OMG, I was fangirling so hard with the last bit of the chronicle, when they were in Magnus' apartment.
This short story made really happy! Definetly one of my favorite Chronicles, I'll reread it sometime in the future, that's for sure. Realizing that the date was going as bad as he thought it would, Magnus texted Catarina. When she calls to tell him of a real emergency, Magnus is surprised but asks Alec to help him, the latter also surprised that the call from Catarina was not a ploy.
Apparently, a young werewolf , wanting to prove that she can have a normal life, went out on a full moon and had Changed in a public place.
Rushing over to the Beauty Bar , they see mundanes panicking about a "monster". Inside the bar, they see several mundanes frozen in horror, as well as one bloodied mundane, Adrienne , who asks them not to hurt her werewolf friend Marcy , taking the blame for convincing her to go out on a full moon. Taking into consideration Adrienne's request, Alec held himself back to not harm the girl, all the while trying to protect Magnus, both of which surprised and pleased Magnus.
When they were able to draw out the human out of the werewolf girl, they watch as Marcy reunites with Adrienne, the two girls of different kinds turning out to be a couple.
Alec and Magnus also promise not to tell anyone of what conspired that evening, not even the Clave. Seeing Adrienne enter, the civilians outside soon follow in suit, piling back into the bar.
Alec and Magnus are thought to be dogcatchers, and they do not deny this and leave. The pair walk back to Magnus' apartment for a drink. Along the way, Alec admits that he had been nervous the whole evening and apologizes for being a horrible date, adding that Magnus was "glamorous. Just outside Magnus' apartment, Alec initiates a kiss with Magnus, doing what Magnus had done when they shared their first kiss days before.
Magnus realizes that he would have regretted leaving Alec and was thankful to have gotten to know him. After a while, the two proceed into Magnus' apartment. Realizing that things may be moving too fast too soon, Magnus stops himself. When Magnus gives Alec an out, though reluctant, Alec agrees that he should go home. They share another kiss, meant to be quick, before Alec breaks away and asks to see Magnus again the following Friday night. Magnus thinks of his previous heartbreaks but agrees nonetheless, hopeful that Alec would not break his heart.
